Encouraging Thoughts

The quote “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world” by Buddha highlights the powerful impact that our thoughts have on our own lives. It suggests that our thoughts shape our reality, and that by changing the way we think, we can change the way we experience the world and how the world interacts with us.

One way to put this quote into practice is by being present and observing our thoughts, rather than being caught up in them. This allows us to gain a sense of control over our mind, and to choose which thoughts we want to focus on.

Another way is through positive thinking which is the act of focusing on uplifting aspects of life, rather than dwelling on the negative. By focusing on the positive, we can start to shift our mindset towards a more hopeful outlook, and in turn, start to experience things around us in a more optimistic way.

This quote encourages us to take responsibility for what we’re thinking and to actively choose those that align with our values and aspirations. Our thoughts and emotions are interconnected, and our emotions can often influence those thoughts. By being aware of this and making a conscious effort to shift our focus towards positivity, we can start to experience a more fulfilling life.

Break Time

At some point today, take a quick break and, while you’re sat down with your coffee, tea or water, use this time to reflect on the following:

Think about what kind of thoughts make you feel good and which make you feel bad. Create a virtual list in your mind; gratitude, appreciation, jealousy, resentment… call out both the positive and negative thoughts!

Then, think about any situation that happened recently that made you feel negative or troubled you, like a difficult conversation with a co-worker or family member. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, think about what you can learn from that experience and how it may be able to help you in the future. It goes without saying that you should try to put this into practice in real life! After all, practice makes perfect..!

Please just remember that your thoughts are powerful, and by focusing on the positive, you can shift your perspective and improve your overall outlook on life. This small but powerful action can make a big difference in your day-to-day experience. The power of positive thinking can lead to improved mental and physical health, better relationships, and increased success in so many areas of your life. 🙂

Don’t forget you can also make use of The Enliven Technique to help quiet your mind in preparation for this exercise.
