The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

An Eleanor Roosevelt quote

Some Encouraging Thoughts

There is something very special about this motivational quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. Read it again a few times. What stands out to you? Yes, it’s that word; “beauty”.

What Eleanor Roosevelt is speaking of here is visualisation. But it isn’t just about seeing your dreams in your mind, it is about feeling the beauty of your dreams. Mrs Roosevelt knew that only those who feel the beauty of their dreams will see the good in them, see a way to pay it forward. And since positive “thoughts become things”, the more you see selfless beauty, the higher your chances of realising your dreams.

So, the next time you visualise, feel what you see in your mind’s eye. It will make all the difference!

Today’s Simple Steps

Today is the day to truly feel the beauty of your dreams. When you are picturing your goal in your mind’s eye, make every attempt to sense the positive outward effect of your wishes coming true. Recognise the joy that your imagined reality will bring.

If you haven’t tried visualisation before, try these beginner’s tips:

1. Start by clearly defining what it is you want to gain

Start small. Small victories are generally quicker to achieve and will also motivate you towards the bigger goals.

For example, instead of becoming a millionaire, you could visualise getting a promotion at work. Or instead of getting married, maybe you imagine a successful date.

2. Build a detailed, rich picture of your goal being achieved

Create a picture in your mind that is full of detail and embraces all your senses. Where are you? Who else is there? What objects surround you? What can you hear and smell? Make sure the image is vivid with strong colours.

This is the visualisation you will repeat over and over again in your mind until it becomes real.

3. Be the star

When you visualise your dreams, it always works best if you do it from your own perspective – looking out from your own eyes. Don’t be the audience in your own movie. You need to be the star!

4. Remember to be positive

You should never envisage negative things. For example, if you want to use visualisation to improve your eating habits, never imagine saying NO to ice cream, instead visualise saying YES to a fresh, crisp salad that is full of colour and smells delightful. It tastes wonderful too!

5. Practice makes perfect

Please don’t pressure yourself too much when you first start practising the art of visualisation. Start by spending a few minutes a day. During each session, let your goal movie become more detailed. You are the star of the greatest show on Earth… you are a dream maker!

Believe in the beauty in your dreams! Feel the beauty of your purpose!
